• Designed & Implemented 50+ class ATL-COM EXE Server used by the PPT-861 Automated Inspection System for all high precision motion control and I/O. This COM-Server is also used by in-house developers testing applications and alogorithms on the PPT-861 platform. All development was accomplished using the Microsoft Visual C++ compiler. Both C++ and Visual Basic clients are successfully using this server to date.
• Co-Designed a general purpose Object-Oriented state machine with multi-threaded event handling and advanced job/task execution to aid in the realization of complex automated machine operation in support of high-speed, high-accuracy 2D & 3D image processing inspection systems.

• Co-developing a hardware+firmware interface for next generation temperature transmitters. This project will utilize the Motorola LC302 processor with programmable Flash memory and a SPI <==> CAN multiplexed communication interface.
• Designed, coded and maintain 12 Class Libraries (500+ Classes) used for development of all applications listed below.
• Oversee the utilization of external contract resources dedicated to developing hardware and firmware required to test and manufacture current and future temperature transmitters and sensors. This role involves submitting requirements documents, reviewing proposed designs, approving build processes and simple funding issues.
• Designed and developed a PC software application which prepares the 3244 Fieldbus Temperature Transmitter Programmable-Eraseable (Flash) ROM with critical configuration parameters and product release firmware. This application utilizes the LC302's Boot-Strap mode to upload firmware which in turn is capable of programming the onboard Flash memory. Users of this application include other design engineers, technicians, remote staging sites and worldwide manufacturing facilities.
• Designed and developed advanced characterization test station (software, hardware & non-COTS equipment) required to characterize 3144/3244 Fieldbus Temperature Transmitter A/D Modules for ambient temperatue effects. The test systems includes one or more Thermotron S4C Temperature Chambers, Keithley 2002 DMM, HP-6633B Power Supply and specially designed high-speed/low-cost RTD/Thermocouple simulators. The application software is a MS-Windows application constructed of several Class Libraries and application specific modules. The primary requirement of this software is to gather information regarding the temperature effects on each transmitter and embed mathematical functions into the transmitter that counter-act the ambient temperature effects to maintain high measurement accuracy. This software includes support for monitoring DUT temperature profiles, DUT communications, test equipment inerfaces and programmed test sequences/events. This software is backward compatible to support characterization of HART transmitters. Capacity of this test system is 200%...400% faster than previous characterization test systems and is approxiametly 40% cheaper!
• Designed and implemented a PC based software interface application required to test the temperature transmitter firmware communication interface implementation and configuration features. This application uses extensive abstract interface to facilitate multiple transmitter protocols (both public and proprietary). This application is used by software developers, design lab technicians, software DVT staff and remote production facilities. Developing this application required a detailed understanding of the product's firmware and communication protocol implementation.
• Lead the design, implementation and integration of a dedicated multiplexed communication interface board. This design involved creation of a 4-layer board utilizing a Motorola LC302 with Atmel programmable Flash Memory. The purpose of this interface board is to provide a high-speed direct connection to the measurement portion of the 3244 Fieldbus Temperature Transmitter for test, calibration and confiugration purposes. This interface was required to perform critical steps of the new transmitter's development cycle including prototyping, DVT, MVT and full production release. This project also includes firmware which provides a ASCII Data Link Layer for frame relay between the transmitter slave and the PC master interface software.
• Designed and developed specialized test equipment to increase the capacity of Temperature Transmitter Test Systems. A careful survey of the existing test systems revealed several bottlenecks which existed due to the use of Commericial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) and limited features of the HART based temperature transmitter. A newly designed, specialized test module was designed using external resources which decreased development time and freed permanent staff to work on other projects. The special test modules are comprised of a mother board with a embedded HC11 microprocessor and (8) daughter boards. Each daughter board can provide all the fixed inputs required to Functional-Test, Characterize, Verify and Final-Calibrate a Temperature Transmitter. This design has several benefits including low cost, scaleable integration and a simple interface (RS-232). Using this special test equipment can increase test system capacity by 200%...400% while costing less than COTS test equipment.
• Supported the transfer & startup of manufacturing operations in the Fisher-Rosemount Singpore Ltd. production plant. Support included the transfer of manufacturing processes, test system equipment, software and specially designed fixtures. This transfer required 6...10 months and required travel to the Singapore production plant.
• Upgraded/enhanced HART Temperature Transmitter test systems as needed after the contract and in-house developers moved on to other jobs. These test systems include board level Functional Testers, Temperature-Effect Characterization, Accuracy Verification and Final Configuration+Calibration. Each application consisted of 10...60 'C' modules. The test software communicates with the transmitter using the HART protocol and controls the test equipment and temperature chambers using the IEEE-488 (GPIB) protocol.
• Developed a MS-Windows application to generate customer certification documents for temperature transmitters. Program features include Btrieve database access for customer information, custom file searching for in-house data records and professionally formatted hardcopies to any Windows (GDI) printer. This software supports production sites and hubs located in the US, Singapore and Europe.
• Developed a MS-Windows application which automates the calibration of industrial platinum resistance temperature (IPRT) detectors. A Keithly 2002 Multimeter and Keithly 7001 Switcher are controlled via a IEEE-488 (GPIB) bus to gather precision resistance values for SPRT's and IPRT's at known temperatures. Dynamic report generation is accomplished via DDE Client/Server links to MS-Excel spreadsheets. The software is capable of working with the IPTS-68 and ITS-90 temperature standards. Switching to this application enabled capacity to increase 200%...500% and resulted in a yearly cost savings of over $50K/year!

• Wrote an application that determines the frictional pressure drop of Non-Newtonian slurries in 3-dimensional pipeline networks with support for several data libraries and the ability to generate various graphs either to screen or to file
